Joe Letourneau is no stranger to the insurance industry; he grew up watching his father in many different positions with Co-operators from 1981 to 2003. Joe started working for Co-operators himself in 1988 as a summer student filling various roles for five summers while completing his Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Joe was one of the first students to go through the Insurance and Risk Management Faculty at the University of Calgary, giving him a great knowledge base to build on.

In 1993, after completion of his degree, Joe immediately wrote his general insurance, life insurance and accident sickness insurance licences and joined his father in the very successful Lacombe agency of Co-operators. As his father’s right-hand man, Joe was able to expand his insurance knowledge sufficiently to take over operations of the Wetaskiwin Co-operators office in 1997 and took ownership of the agency in January of 1999.

Joe married Christine in August of 1997 and is sure he has found the best partner any man could ask for. He says that family is the most important part of his life and is very proud of his son and daughter, who are both wonderful children. He enjoys camping, skiing and traveling as a family and makes sure he takes time to enjoy family activities.

Joe has a people-oriented personality and his passion lies in helping others in any way he can. Joe volunteers for many events and is willing to get involved in his community wherever he is needed, most notably as a volunteer fire fighter since 1993. He has held officer and support roles in the fire service, has taken numerous fire training courses, and received the Alberta Emergency Services Medal. Joe feels that his service on the fire department is just one more way he can help his clients manage risk.
