Alec leads manufacturing and operations for the individual insurance, group benefits, creditor and wealth lines of business – ensuring that financial-management practices and product development contribute to profitability. He’s also responsible for creating an effective third-party sales distribution network.
Alec has played a critical role in growing the organization’s individual insurance business, guiding efforts around product development and distribution, as well as finding innovative approaches to financial analysis and pricing. He led efforts to grow and scale Group Benefits in partnership with Smart Employee Benefits, helping Co-operators meet the evolving needs of employers and their employees, and gain increased access to the competitive group benefits market.
Alec serves on several boards, including The Edge Benefits, Smart Employee Benefits, and Co-operators Financial Investment Services.
Alec is a fellow of both the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries, and holds a math degree in actuarial science, with a minor in statistics, from the University of Waterloo.
